For Full-Service Restaurants

Floor maps, course pacing, splits, comps — without the legacy pain.

Square for Restaurants in FSR mode + KDS + tableside payment + reservations. The depth that used to require a back-office server and a $40k installation, on cloud-native iPad hardware.

  • Floor management & course pacing
  • Tableside pay-at-the-table
  • Reservations integration (Resy, OpenTable)

What we hear from operators

The four problems we solve first

01

Legacy POS is the back-office anchor

Aloha and MICROS run on on-prem servers and per-terminal licensing. When the server crashes, your night ends. Square is cloud-native, mobile-first, and updates ship continuously.

02

Service flow is the difference between great and average

Square FSR mode handles floor maps, course pacing, splits, comps, voids, transfers between servers, and manager overrides. Built for the fire drill, not retrofit from a counter POS.

03

Pay-at-the-table is now table stakes

Square Terminal handed off at the table for tip and sign reduces walk time, cuts errors, and feels like the modern hospitality experience guests expect.

04

Tip pooling and IRS reporting eats your closing

Square handles tip declaration at clock-out, pool/share rules per shift, and Form 8027 reporting where applicable. Square Payroll consumes it directly.

SugarPay deploys, configures, and supports each of these — billed through Square, activated and trained by us.

Switching from

Why operators move to SugarPay + Square

vs. Toast

Toast is the most prominent competitor in this space — POS depth is excellent, but contracts are typically 2–3 years and processing is rep-negotiated. Square + SugarPay is month-to-month, transparent rates (or 0% Duet), with comparable FSR depth.

vs. Aloha (NCR)

Long-tenured legacy FSR POS, but on-prem server, slow innovation cadence, and per-terminal licensing. Square is cloud-native and updates ship continuously.

vs. MICROS Oracle

Hotel-grade depth and price tag. Excellent for big chains and resorts, overkill (and contractually painful) for most independent FSR.

vs. TouchBistro

Strong iPad-based POS but smaller ecosystem (no banking, weaker loyalty/marketing). Square gives you POS + online + loyalty + banking + payroll in one stack.

Vertical FAQ

The questions fsr operators ask first

Can Square handle a 200-cover Saturday?

Yes — Square for Restaurants is used by full-service operators doing thousands of covers per week. KDS is local-first (works through brief network blips), and printer/KDS routing is configurable per station.

What about reservations?

Square integrates with Resy and OpenTable; reservations flow to the floor map and host stand without retyping. Reserve with Google works through the integration as well.

Will it handle our tip pool?

Yes — configure pool rules per shift, station, or role; Square produces the report your bookkeeper needs and Square Payroll integrates the splits into paychecks.

Can servers transfer tables and split checks?

Yes — table transfers, item splits, even-share splits, and per-seat splits are all first-class flows. Manager codes gate comps and voids.

Does it work for fine dining with course pacing?

Yes — course pacing fires courses by trigger (next course on bus-back, bus on coffee, etc.). Configurable per concept.
